Welcome!
At long last, laboratorians and medical professionals have one on-line source for education and data on the preanalytical phase of laboratory testing in clinical medicine.
Sponsored by BD, specimencare.com is edited by the Global Preanalytical Scientific Committee (GPSC), a group of respected clinicians and scientists.
Our goals are to:
- Provide a quick, easy path to a comprehensive selection of relevant literature
- Raise awareness of preanalytical variables in the laboratory and medical community
- Improve the safety and efficiency of the laboratory services by controlling preanalytical variables
“We hope this website will become a valuable resource for those seeking help in designing excellent preanalytical processes by providing guidelines and tools for process improvement,” says Committee member Prof. Norbert Blanckaert. “In addition, the site will draw attention to events that provide outstanding learning and networking opportunities for those interested in preanalytical processes in particular and in healthcare processes in general.”
Dr. Sol Green adds, “When visiting labs in the EMA, I often encounter laboratorians with a specific question concerning a certain assay or tube, which takes a great deal of time and effort to answer. They’re looking for information to help them determine what actions to take to insure that they can provide physicians with the best results, and ultimately, the best patient care.
“My hope is this site will be the one single source that laboratory directors and people who want to learn about the affects of preanalytical variables and ways to improve the quality of their laboratory can go for answers.”
We welcome your feedback and direction towards building specimencare.com into the most useful tool possible.
